Summary
The Senior Pipeline Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing pipeline engineering projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in pipeline design, route selection, materials selection, and stress analysis. The role involves coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
Report directly to Department Manager for work process and job assignments
Works with a team of discipline engineers to support creation of deliverables
May be required to work on more than one project at a time
Job may be a part of a multi-discipline team
May supervise the activities of junior Engineers, designers and draftsmen to ensure accuracy and completeness of documents and drawings produced.
Produce detailed designs for a particular segment ensuring compliance with codes and standards
Develop engineering documents, working drawings and write specifications
Demonstrated knowledge of procedures and practical application of skills
Lead, supervise and guide discipline specific teams in the design and engineering of pipeline systems, including oil, gas, and multiphase pipelines.
Manage all phases of pipeline projects, including conceptual studies, front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed engineering, and construction support.
Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards and accuracy.
Develop and optimize pipeline routes considering environmental, economic, and technical constraints.
Perform pipeline stress analysis, hydraulic calculations, and surge analysis.
Select appropriate pipeline materials, coatings, and corrosion protection systems.
Prepare and review pipeline design deliverables, including alignment sheets, material take-offs (MTOs), and construction drawings.
Ensure all pipeline designs comply with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.4, B31.8, API 1104, 49 CFR 192, 49 CFR 195).
Interface with regulatory bodies and obtain necessary permits and approvals for pipeline projects.
Requirements
5 or more years of applicable industry experience in the specification transmission pipelines,
compressors, and pumps.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Pipeline Engineering required.
Texas PE licensure a plus
Extensive knowledge of pipeline design codes and standards (ASME, API, ASTM, etc.).
Strong understanding of pipeline construction techniques, welding, and material selection.
Specific experience with COADE Caesar II software is a plus
Proven success in developing and executing projects, including objectives, scope, schedule and deliverables; Tenacious, results oriented approach to work, with high quality work standards
